SSV procedure
Who can Drive
To operate Henley SLSC’s SSV you must:
Hold a minimum of a P1 licence
Display P-plates if required by your licence
Be inducted into the use of the SSV by a Patrol Captain
A financial member of Henley SLSC
SSV Operating Instructions
Starting the SSV
Before starting the SSV, disconnect the battery charger by disconnecting the anderson plug to the left of the steering wheel. Ensure this is re-connected whenever the SSV is in the shed.
The new SSV utilises push to start. Ensure that the safety clip is connected to the dash and hold the “START” button.
To activate accessory power press the “START” button once.
Using the radio
The radio is turned on and off via the power button on the top. The orange button is the emergency button and works the same as the handsets. The handpiece operates in the same way as the portable radios, the number keypad is not functional. Ensure to turn the radio off while not using the SSV.
Using the siren
The siren is powered whenever the ignition is on. To use the PA hold the side button on the handpiece. To use the siren, flick the rocker switch on the dash in the appropriate direction for your desired siren.
Do not use the siren while in the shed of the club. The siren and PA are to only be used on the beach.
Washdown PROCEDURE
The SSV must be thoroughly washed after every use regardless of how long it was used for.
After Every Use
Use a brush to remove sand from the interior of the SSV
Remove all sand from the body of the SSV using a hose
DO NOT spray anything inside of the cab other than the floor.
Ensure to spray under the SSV and every visible surface.
Additionaly
After Sunday’s patrol during the season or after every use out of the season:
Remove all items from the roof racks of the SSV
Tilt the tray back
Wash all surfaces under the tray to remove all sand.
Wash all equipment from the roof and return.
