JUNIOR AGE GROUPS 

Throughout Juniors you will see reference to Age Groups.

A child’s age group is determined by how old they are on September 30 of the current year. Thus, if a child is 7 on September 30 then they are in Under 8’s. If a child is 8 on September 30 then they are in Under 9’s. If a child is 9 on September 30 then they are in Under 10’s, and so on.

SKILLS REQUIRED TO PARTICIPATE IN JUNIORS 

You do not need to be a strong swimmer to join Henley SLSC Juniors but you do require a willingness to try new things and ‘have a go.’ Before your child goes out into deep water we will conduct the following evaluation.

Under 7 - none as all initial activities are in shallow water

Under 8 - 25 metre swim, any stroke & 1 minute survival float

Under 9 - 25 metre swim, any stroke & 1 minute survival float

Under 10 - 25 metre swim, freestyle & 1 ½   minute survival float

Under 11 - 50 metre swim, freestyle & 1 ½ minute survival float

Under 12 - 100metre swim, freestyle & 2 minute survival float

Under 13 - 150 metre swim, freestyle & 3 minute survival float

Under 14 - 200 metre swim, freestyle in less than 5 minutes & 3 minutes survival swim.
